4-0 (1-0). Previous: . Crimson Tide . 4. team. 829.

Alabama Crimson Tide fans can scream and moan all they want. The fact of the matter is they have the least impressive resume of any of the undefeated teams to this point. It will get better, and we believe this team to be elite, but constantly blowing out inferior opponents doesn’t show it just yet when you look at what other teams have done.

Bama has only faced two Power Five programs and no ranked teams. That’s enough for us to drop them to No. 4 in our SEC Power Rankings for now despite the fact that they are looking nearly flawless in all of their outings. Still, they just beat the Southern Miss Golden Eagles 49-7. Is that really supposed to mean anything?

Of course it isn’t. Their best win is probably their 42-3 victory over the Duke Blue Devils, but the defense giving up 24 points to the South Carolina Gamecocks could be concerning. The one thing in their favor is the fact that Tua Tagovailoa looks better this year than he even did last year.

Will it stick? Well, with the Ole Miss Rebels at home coming up, they won’t do much to prove anything more this week. But after a bye, they do visit the Texas A&M Aggies to prove something. Then they host the Tennessee Vols and Arkansas Razorbacks, though. So this team’s schedule, as usual, remains weak until a brutal November.
