Wildcats . 10. team. 833. . 2-2 (0-2). Previous:

Talk about a tease! The Kentucky Wildcats led us to believe they hadn’t missed a beat under Mark Stoops after nearly beating the Florida Gators last week at Commonwealth Stadium. But then they visit a Mississippi State Bulldogs team that just lost at home to the Kansas State Wildcats, and they lose the game 28-13.

Clearly, Mark Stoops’s team does have some things it needs to work on. Maybe the young team is just much better at home right now than on the road. Either way, they did not look good on Saturday, and it was what forced us to make our first major change in the SEC Power Rankings for this week. Kentucky is not in a tier above the mediocre programs.

This defense still looks like it could be something special, and losing Terry Wilson is probably not the problem for the offense. We’re just going to attribute what happened there for now to issues of youth and inexperience.

However, the road doesn’t get any easier. Up next for this team is a game at the South Carolina Gamecocks, which could drop them below .500, and they have to face the Georgia Bulldogs in October. But the good news is they also get the Arkansas Razorbacks on the slate along with home games against the Missouri Tigers and Tennessee Vols.
