. 3-1 (1-0). Previous: . Bulldogs . 7. team. 893

We wrote them off after blowing a lead to the Kansas State Wildcats and losing that game at home by a touchdown. But beating the Kentucky Wildcats 28-13 was a very good victory for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, and it was more than enough for us to move them back up in our SEC Power Rankings with a 3-1 start.

Sure, the Texas A&M Aggies have two better losses than Kansas State. But all three of Mississippi State’s wins are better, so they belong ahead of them for now. Also, KSU remains an undefeated Big 12 school, so is there anymore shame in losing to them at this point than there would be in losing to any other program? There shouldn’t be.

Joe Moorhead has a young team that appears to have its quarterback in Garrett Shrader, as he had 180 yards passing and 125 yards rushing this past weekend while Kylin Hill added 100 yards on the ground and three touchdowns, all against a Mark Stoops led defense. That’s impressive.

With Bob Stoops running MSU’s defense, the tests coming up remain inconsistent. It’s first at the Auburn Tigers. Then comes a bye and a trip to the Tennessee Vols. But they then host the LSU Tigers before visiting the Texas A&M Aggies. So outside of UT, they have a brutal stretch coming up, and the Vols are on the road. This is where they find themselves.
