Ole Miss Rebels at No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide

Line: Alabama -37.5; Over/Under: 60; TV: CBS

Saturday, Sept. 28 at 3:30 p.m. E.T.; Bryant-Denny Stadium; Tuscaloosa, Ala.

A team that once had the Alabama Crimson Tide’s number is now reeling after a brutal loss to the California Golden Bears. Is their anything to make of Alabama against the Ole Miss Rebels now, or was that just a mid-2010s fluke from when Hugh Freeze was head coach of the program?

After all, Alabama has dropped over 60 points on Ole Miss each of the last two years while holding the Rebels to single-digits. The Tide controlled the Southern Miss Golden Eagles last week, predictably, but you wonder how much they can handle these teams that don’t really test them on a week to week basis.

To be fair, Matt Luke’s Rebels showed some life in nearly beating Cal. They were robbed by the Pac-12 officials, and that was not a bad loss. Could they turn things on and manage to give Alabama a bit more scare than they are accustomed to? That certainly hasn’t been the case since Luke took over.

Prediction

Alabama will win easily. However, the spread is a hard one for out college football predictions. We say the Tide do not cover that 37.5 line. What we will say, though, is that the game hits the over. Nick Saban’s team would have hit this over by themselves the past two years. They will come close again, and Ole Miss will get some points.

Alabama: 52 Ole Miss: 17 (Ole Miss +37.5; Over 60)
