No. 21 USC Trojans at No. 17 Washington Huskies

Line: Washington -10.5; Over/Under: 60.5; TV: Fox

Saturday, Sept. 28 at 3:30 p.m. E.T.; Husky Stadium; Seattle, Wash.

What do we make of these teams? Both have shocking upset losses that have kept them from being undefeated, but they also have some impressive wins to be able to remain in the top 25. If the Pac-12 is going to have a team make the College Football Playoff, this is going to be an elimination game for somebody in the conference.

That makes it another tricky one for our college football predictions. The Washington Huskies are still reeling from that heartbreaking one-point loss from earlier this year to the California Golden Bears, and Cal needing the refs to beat the Ole Miss Rebels doesn’t make Chris Petersen’s team look good. So what does that say about this game in Seattle Saturday?

Well, the USC Trojans have a heartbreaking loss to the BYU Cougars sandwiched between two upset wins over the Stanford Cardinal and Utah Utes. Both were at home, though, and this one’s on the road. Clay Helton appears to be coaching for his job on a week to week basis. What will happen in this outing?

Prediction

Okay, we’re going to hedge a bit. USC seems to be performing well when its back is against the wall, and that’s the case this week as they are 10.5-point underdogs. Washington did beat BYU, but they’ve still proven nothing. So in a round-robin, they’ll win here, but USC will cover. And the game hits the under in a close one since it’s a noon start for them.

Washington: 20 USC: 17 (USC +10.5; Under 60.5)
