After a 1-3 start, how can Tennessee football realistically finish the season. Here are the best and worst case scenarios for the Volunteers after the bye.

Can they still make a bowl game? Is a top 25 appearance even possible? Will they lose the rest of their games and have the worst season in school history? These are the questions for Tennessee football coming out of their bye week after a horrendous 1-3 start that saw two losses to Group of Five schools and no wins against FBS programs.

Jeremy Pruitt now has a groundswell of criticism against him despite only being a third of the way through his second year on Rocky Top. But there’s no denying the fact that he has had major issues early on.

The last outing for Tennessee football was a 34-3 loss to the Florida Gators, their third straight in the series and their 15th in 16 years overall. It simply can’t get uglier right now, and fans are rightly concerned about what’s to come.

Who wouldn’t be when this team still has to face the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide? What was supposed to be their best chance at a great year with such an easy non-conference schedule has now made a bowl game into an unlikely climb.

Simply put, the Vols are in trouble. Just how far can they go this year with the rest of their schedule? In addition to Georgia and Alabama on the road, they also have the Missouri Tigers and Kentucky Wildcats on the road while they host the Mississippi State Bulldogs, South Carolina Gamecocks, UAB Blazers and Vanderbilt Commodores.

Is their a path to a bowl game with that slate? Could it possibly result in the worst season in UT history? Let’s take a look at all of that here. Coming off their bye after a horrendous start, here is our look at the best to worst case scenarios for Tennessee football the rest of the way.
