Previewing the Tennessee Vols’ football matchup against the Georgia Bulldogs  with Jeremy Pruitt leads our Volunteers news for Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019.

Welcome to the first day of October! It’s Halloween season, the leaves are starting to change, but temperatures remain hot like the summer never left. And fall for the Tennessee Vols this year appears to be more of just a trend towards darkness than anything else.

Our morning update on Rocky Top leads with the football program, as we get back in the swing of things covering it coming off the bye week. UT getting set to face the Georgia Bulldogs is our main story. Involving that, we have a Jeremy Pruitt press conference to recap.

However, Pruitt isn’t the only Vol football coach who made news speaking yesterday. We have an assistant who spoke also making news, and we have updates on next week’s game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Oh, there’s also a golf event going on. But let’s start with Pruitt speaking on what’s coming up.

Jeremy Pruitt talks about Georgia Bulldogs – UTSports

Coming off the bye, Tennessee Vols football head coach Jeremy Pruitt spoke with the media Monday about the Georgia Bulldogs. He didn’t say who would start between Jarrett Guarantano and Brian Maurer and also appeared to take a shot at Kirby Smart, noting he inherited a good program when he took over. Here’s a look at what else he said.

"“When you look at Georgia, it’s probably the best Georgia team that I can ever remember at this point in time in the season. Very complete on both sides of the ball and in the kicking game. You start offensively. It starts with Jake Fromm. To me, he does as good a job as anybody in the country, and maybe as anybody I’ve ever coached against, as far as keeping their offense in positive situations.”"

"The schedule for the seventh weekend of the regular season is comprised of six conference games and one non-conference game. The weekly SEC Network triple-header will feature Mississippi State at Tennessee in the first game of the day, UNLV at Vanderbilt in the afternoon window and Arkansas at Kentucky in primetime."

Chris Weinke speaks at quarterback club – Grant Ramey, GoVols247

Tennessee football quarterbacks coach Chris Weinke spoke at the Knoxville Quarterback Club Monday at Calhoun’s on the River. Weinke, who played quarterback for the Florida State Seminoles, also played minor league baseball in Knoxville. Here’s a look at some of what he said.

"“Some of my fondest memories as a professional baseball player were here in Knoxville, which is funny how you come full circle. Coming back here obviously in a different role, in a different position. But really love Knoxville, Tennessee. It’s one of my favorite places I’ve ever lived.”"
