Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Wide Receiver. Lawrence Cager. player. 814. Senior. 5

Honestly, you could name a lot of people on this fifth spot. The Georgia Bulldogs’ passing attack involves Jake Fromm spreading the ball around to Lawrence Cager, Dominick Blaylock, George Pickens, and even Tennessee football transfer Eli Wolf at tight end. Kirby Smart hasn’t employed a heavy passing attack when needed.

But if the Vols are going to sell out to stop the run, as they should, UGA will want to go deep. And at that point, none of the players are more proven to handle the pressure of being the playmaker than Lawrence Cager. So he is the one guy from the passing game we put on the list for the Vols to keep an eye on.

The 6’5″ 220-pound graduate transfer from the Miami Hurricanes only has 10 receptions for 139 yards and two touchdowns this year. But against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the team’s only close game and their only game against a ranked opponent, he came through with five receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown.

Cager is clearly the big-game playmaker, and if the Vols are going to make this close, he will be the guy Fromm turns to. His size and production prove that he is elite, and Smart is smart enough to use him as much as possible. So Jeremy Pruitt needs to be ready and take advantage of having a pretty solid secondary.
