Tennessee football vs. Georgia: Five Bulldogs to watch for against Vols
Sticking with the defense, the Georgia Bulldogs are also loaded at linebacker. But Tae Crowder is the guy who can make all the big plays, and given the development Tennessee football is still showing in blocking schemes, he could wreck the Vols’ offense as well. Oh, and he also has experience going up against Jim Chaney.
For the year, Crowder is third on the team with 17 tackles and tied for second on the team with Jermaine Johnson with two tackles for a loss. Although Monty Rice leads the team with 22 tackles, Crowder’s combination of tackles and coming away with key plays are why we have him as the top linebacker, but any of the guys could have made the list.
Like the other guys we have named, Crowder showed that he comes up big when needed as well. He had nine tackles and one of his tackles for a loss against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, so if the Vols do somehow find a way to make this a game, you can bet that this guy is going to be finding a way to be effective.
A 6’3″ 235-pound veteran, Crowder is a dangerous weapon to have, and once again, Chaney and Jeremy Pruitt will have to do everything they can to account for him. The Vols have struggled in picking up complex blitz packages this year, and Crowder could thrive on that. So they have got to be careful.
