Tennessee football: Vols, SEC, top 25 predictions for Week Six of 2019
Utah State Aggies at No. 5 LSU Tigers
Line: LSU -26.5; Over/Under: 73.5; TV: SEC Network
Saturday, Oct. 5 at Noon E.T.; Tiger Stadium; Baton Rouge, La.
Fresh off a bye week themselves, the LSU Tigers return in a much different place than Tennessee football. They were off to a red-hot start offensively through the first four games of the season, scoring a huge quality win over the Texas Longhorns and then dropping 66 points on the Vanderbilt Commodores.
However, they do have some defensive issues, allowing 38 points to Vandy. After a bye and now a home game against a Group of Five team, Ed Orgeron and Dave Aranda will be spending time trying to get those issues right over the weekend.
The Utah State Aggies come into town on a three-game winning streak after opening the season with a close loss to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. They just beat the San Diego State Spartans and Colorado State Rams in ugly fashion. But maybe their offense has what it takes to give LSU trouble, as these guys can score under Gary Andersen, who has started his second stint out there.
Prediction
Straight out of the gate, take the over in this game. There is no reason to believe LSU can’t drop 50 on anybody, and their defense is problematic enough that an offense like Utah State will get its own points. As for the spread, it’s a bit trickier, but we still say take LSU. Joe Burrow will score at will, so LSU covers and the game hits the over.
