Things aren’t as clear for Tennessee football after a rough loss to the Georgia Bulldogs over the weekend. Here is our stock report for the Volunteers.
Is the overall stock for Tennessee football up or down? Well, the Vols are still significantly in a recession, maybe even a depression, after that 43-14 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs. And expectations are still extremely low.
What else could you say about a 1-4 team with no wins against an FBS school, two losses at home to Group of Five schools and now its two games against Power Five schools resulting in losses by 31 and 29 points respectively? There’s no way around the fact that those numbers are simply disastrous.
However, there are signs of life and light at the end of the tunnel. A quarterback change that gave UT some momentum and a 14-10 lead at one point over the Dawgs have people continuing to place hope in Tennessee football. It may not be legitimate, but it’s there.
Why else would fans still be selling out games after the way this team has looked to start the season? Faith in Jeremy Pruitt is slowly but surely falling apart, but at the same time, he’s got people filling Neyland to support his kids. So if he can get things right, there will be a dramatic change for the program.
So as we get set to deliver our stock report for UT, know that while things are bad overall, there is reason to believe it won’t stay that way forever. When it gets to the level it needs to be at remains up for debate, but it at least could get there.
In the process, we just need to figure out who’s on track to get them there in the moment. And that’s what this post is for. So here is our Tennessee football stock report following the Vols’ blowout home loss to the Georgia Bulldogs in Week Six of 2019.
