A noon matchup between Tennessee football and the Mississippi State Bulldogs leads our Week Seven Volunteers, Southeastern Conference and top 25 picks.

Despite losing 43-14 to the Georgia Bulldogs, Tennessee football showed some improvement. That’s reflective of what’s happening with our gambling picks too, as a horrendous start is now starting to tick upward and has been for the past couple of weeks.

Maybe that’s a sign that things are going to get better for the both of us in October. Well, the Vols certainly need it before we do. Our turnaround, after all, appears to have begun with the end of September games.

But we could both use more of an uplift, and while Tennessee football looks for that with a noon game this weekend, we look for it with an elite slate of games. Here is a look at how we did during last week’s outings.

Record for Week Four predictions straight-up: 7-0

Gambling Record:  8-6

Against the spread: 5-2

On the Over/Under: 3-4

Once again, we had a winning record. And we’ve gone perfect straight-up for two straight weeks. But it could have been better. UT’s game against the Georgia Bulldogs cost us, particularly that last strip-sack touchdown, which made us miss on the over and the spread. Otherwise, we’d have been 10-4. But it was a fluke thing that happened. Here’s how well that has set us up for the year.

Overall record for predictions straight-up: 51-11

Gambling Record: 53-49-2

Against the spread: 28-23-1

On the Over/Under: 25-26-1

And with that, we’re at 51.96 percent on our gambling picks. That’s just under the 52 percent you need to turn a profit, so we’re looking to get more breathing room on that front with this week’s slate of games. There are plenty.

Every SEC team is playing this week outside of the Auburn Tigers. Only the Vanderbilt Commodores are playing a non-conference game. That gives us seven games overall to cover right off the bat. Meanwhile, we’ve got a top 25 game in the Big 12 to cover for the afternoon and another one in the Big Ten to cover for the evening.

So we have nine games overall and 18 potential gambling picks. As always, we’ll pick them in the order of which they’re scheduled and close out with the Vols’ matchup. So here are our Week Seven Tennessee football, SEC and top 25 predictions.
