South Carolina Gamecocks at No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs

Line: Georgia -24; Over/Under: 53; TV: ESPN

Saturday, Oct. 12 at Noon E.T.; Sanford Stadium; Athens, Ga.

Two former Nick Saban defensive coordinators go at it on this one, and both of them played for the Georgia Bulldogs. But the one actually coaching that team right now, Kirby Smart, is having all the success while Will Muschamp still struggle to get his footing in Columbia. This should be a bigger rivalry than it currently is.

Anyway, South Carolina enters this game with a ton of momentum. Sure, they are 2-3, but they are coming off a bye week and most recently played against the Kentucky Wildcats, a game they won in dominating fashion 24-7. Now is a chance to prove that they truly have taken another step with their defense.

Despite winning and covering over Tennessee football last week, the Georgia Bulldogs once again looked vulnerable. Coming off a bye, they were losing 14-10 in the first half at one point. Smart’s team has to worry about complacency, and it’s hard to avoid that with a noon game against this South Carolina team.

Prediction

Georgia’s weakness has been offenses that can chuck it deep and get some big plays through the air. That is not South Carolina. As a result, the Dawgs will come out and dominate in front of their home crowd. They win and cover, but the game hits the under because of their defense.

Georgia: 38 South Carolina: 10 (Georgia -24; Under 53)
