Very few people have negative stock for Tennessee football following the Volunteers’ 20-10 upset win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Well, if the state of Tennessee football could be measured in the form of an overall stock market, the value would still be low but would have shot up over the weekend. That’s what comes with such a critical SEC win against a solid SEC West opponent.

Beating the Mississippi State Bulldogs gave them their first win over an FBS school on the season, and the fact that it was a conference win against a Power Five school with a winning record only made it sweeter for Rocky Top. So even at 2-4 and 1-2 in the SEC, the value of the Vols may have quadrupled over the weekend.

Pretty much every unit is looking pretty decent after Tennessee football’s victory. Some were quietly productive, others may have been a bit overrated, and many got rightful praise for standing out in a big way.

But all of them were a net positive. So as we get set to bring you our stock report for Rocky Top following Saturday’s game, note that even the negative things we’re pointing out mostly had major net positives for UT during this game.

Will it last? We don’t know. That’s what these stock reports are for. But what we do know is consumer confidence has gone up in the program midway through Jeremy Pruitt’s second season, even if fans were expecting to be closer to 3-3 or 4-2 at this stage rather than 2-4.

Anyway, our report will go the way it usually does, with a look at which stock is up and which stock is down before closing with stocks to buy and then stocks to sell. The stocks can range from players, to specific position units to overall position groups. So let’ go ahead and break them down. This is our Tennessee football stock report following Week Seven of 2019.
