Jarrett Guarantano. player. 839. Quarterback. Pick Analysis. Redshirt Junior. 5. Scouting Report

It was incredibly hard for us to actually choose this fifth spot. We could have given it to Jarrett Guarantano or JT Shrout. And to be honest, Shrout had a better stat line. But given everything Guarantano had been dealing with all year and specifically this week, he earned the mention on this list despite being knocked out of the game.

Before he was knocked out, Guarantano completed 11-of-19 passes for 229 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. He also directed a field goall drive in the second half that Brent Cimaglia missed. Then there was the goal-line drive he directed where he was stopped on 4th and goal because the refs missed a pass interference.

So Guarantano did his job as well as he possibly could. You could say he led Tennessee football to 31 points, even if the Vols only got 21 with him. Either way, this was a major boost for him after all the heat he has received and the public lashing he got from Jeremy Pruitt last week.

Both of Guarantano’s touchdown passes resulted in lead changes. And the second one was a beautiful throw that he made as he was being hit on 3rd and 14. That hit knocked him out of the game. But he didn’t get knocked out before making sure the Vols took the lead for good with that touchdown pass, and it’s why he makes our list.
