Newcomers

Jordan Horston

6’2″; Freshman; Columbus, Ohio

The star of this year’s Tennessee Lady Vols recruiting class, Jordan Horston is the No. 2 ranked player nationally and the No. 1 ranked player at her position. With Evina Westbrook gone, it’s safe to assume that Kellie Harper will be looking to her to immediately be the future of the program in the backcourt.

Horston and Zaay Green may end up being in competition to be the top guard, but they also will likely play together a lot. Holly Warlick, for all of the negative things that happened on the court, did a great job signing talent, and Horston was another huge get. She’s likely to help give Harper a great starting point in her first season on Rocky Top.

Jessie Rennie

5’8″; Freshman; Bendigo, Australia

Harper’s only freshman signee, Jessie Rennie was not rated on the recruiting trail because she comes from Australia. But she was recruited for one specific reason: to be a three-point specialist for UT. With the departure of Meme Jackson, that means she could end up seeing action much earlier than anticipated this year.

In fact, there’s an off-chance that Rennie earns a starting job before Horston. After all, there is no outside shooting specialist right now for UT who is a proven returner, even if there are players who can stretch the floor. So keep an eye on what she does early on, as she already dramatically fills a void that Jackson’s departure left. Harper may turn to her immediately for some help.
