Following a huge win, the Tennessee Volunteers are now in the top half of the Southeastern Conference. Here are our Week Nine SEC Power Rankings.

Nobody shook up the league more than Tennessee football this week. Their huge win changed a lot of things in our SEC Power Rankings, but the Vols weren’t the only team to create a ton of drama last Saturday.

Despite four teams being on a bye week, there were two games in which a team lost to a lower-ranked team in our power rankings from last week. Add in the one game between two top-tier teams, and things changed all over the place.

What didn’t change, however, was the fact that there is a clear-cut top two right now in our SEC Power Rankings and a clear team at the bottom. Also, a series of upsets now leaves wide open the possibility for two SEC teams to make the College Football Playoff. Four are still in the running, and five potentially could be if more upsets happen.

Everything else is up for debate, though, as we have to determine how much to weigh what happens on a week to week basis vs. what happens in the conglomerate. That’s gotten much trickier over time.

As a result, there will be plenty of room for disagreement with how we break down the teams. And fortunately for everybody, there will be plenty of games this week to help decipher exactly how they should be broken down.

But until then, we have to go off of what we have seen most recently and figure out how much of a fluke each game was. That becomes very tricky over time. What’s clear, though, is that the changes are good news for the Vols, and we will certainly get to them soon enough.

Where does everybody else stand, though? Who is trending up, and who is trending down in the toughest conference in America? Let’s analyze that here. These are our SEC Power Rankings following Week Nine of the 2019 season.
