Biggest questions

1. Who emerges at center?

We mentioned Kasiyahna Kushkituah as the one returning player there. Tamari Key is the star recruit at the position. And Emily Saunders is another freshman center. Can the Tennessee Lady Vols get a reliable starter and rotational player out of those three?

One of these players has to emerge as a starter to offset the loss of Cheridene Green. It’s been a running theme about the post for this entire preview, so it’s clearly going to be one of the biggest questions. But if they do emerge, then the unit could even improve over last year.

2. Has Lou Brown returned to form?

Last year, Lou Brown’s season-ending injury could have been what did Holly Warlick in. With Mimi Collins there as a freshman, she just didn’t have enough options at the four-spot, and it proved disastrous throughout the season.

However, Brown is back, and she is also competing with a few other added players for playing time at the four-spot. If she can return to where she was, her veteran presence will be crucial, and it could serve as a huge benefit.

3. Will a wing play the four?

Even if Brown does return to form, there’s a chance that the Tennessee Lady Vols go small with Kellie Harper. They could use Rennia Davis at the four and then run three guards and a center. At that point, Brown, Jaiden McCoy and Kamera Harris are the odd players left out.

Warlick did that last year, largely because of how limited she was at the position. Whether or not Harper does that likely depends on how quickly Brown returns to form, building off our last question, and how ready McCoy is for this level as a JuCo transfer.
