Tennessee Lady Vols: Five potential breakout players for 2019-2020
Nobody will take a bigger leap from last year to this year from a technical standpoint than Lou Brown. After all, just playing one official minute and scoring one point will result in an increase in production by infinity. Just by playing this year, she is going to be taking a major leap, and that’s why she couldn’t be last on the list.
A graduate transfer last year from the Washington State Cougars, Brown was supposed to be Holly Warlick’s answer to losing so much inside production last year. But then she suffered a season-ending injury before the year even started. As a result, she enters this year as the most experienced Division I basketball player on the roster, a sixth-year senior.
Brown is one of the reasons Kellie Harper has more options for the Tennessee Lady Vols to go big. She could technically be a newcomer because of this situation. Anyway, she averaged over six points and six rebounds the last season she played in, 2017-2018, and she had four points and two rebounds in 12 minutes against Carson-Newman.
Junior college transfer Jaiden McCoy was the starter at the four, but if Brown gets back into rhythm, don’t be surprised if the 6’3″ veteran gets a starting spot down there. Her skills set makes her the first person on this list with a chance to become a starter, and that’s why she’s No. 3.
