The Tennessee Volunteers remaining in the top half of the Southeastern Conference is the lead story of our Week 10 SEC Power Rankings.

Overall, it was a very uneventful weekend in college football. That’s why College GameDay went to a Group of Five location. But there was one game in the Power Five that came between top 25 teams, and it happened to be the only thing that altered any part of our SEC Power Rankings.

This was actually a top 10 game that had major championship implications. The story on Rocky Top, however, is Tennessee football continuing to play at a high level after having such a rough start to the season.

UT’s level of play kept them in the top half of our SEC Power Rankings after being in last place less than a month ago. But like the rest of the league outside of this game, there were almost no changes from last week.

What could we do? Four SEC teams had bye weeks last week. Two of them, including UT, played unranked Group of Five programs at home. In the other three games, the favorite won each time. So it was a very predictable week, leaving us with little room to alter the rankings.

Sure, we could look at a couple of those games being close and try to analyze how impressive some of those teams were in their victories, or losses. But by and large, everything was par for the course for the league.

That will change a little bit this week, as there are two games Saturday with two schools adjactent to each other in these rankings facing each other. A couple of other programs have chances to move up as well.

There is an off-chance, though, for limited change again. Before we look ahead, let’s break down what happened this past week and why everything remained similar. These are our SEC Power Rankings following Week 10 of the 2019 college football season.
