Ranking the five most important Tennessee Lady Vols for 2019-2020
With a new head coach in Kellie Harper, the Tennessee Lady Vols will turn to lots of new talent in 2019-20. Here are five key women’s basketball Volunteers.
Basketball season is upon us, and the Tennessee Lady Vols are set to start off a new era on Rocky Top. New head coach Kellie Harper is set to lead that new era, and she walks into a very difficult situation having to follow Holly Warlick.
Coming off a 19-13 season in which they were 7-9 in the SEC and eliminated in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, UT is looking for new talent to step up. They have a lot of work to do in Harper’s first season.
This team has to replace three starters and four contributors. Their leading scorer and assists woman, Evina Westbrook, transferred to the UConn Huskies. They also lost their three-point specialist and their center, Meme Jackson and Cheridene Green. Finally, the Tennessee Lady Vols lost rising star Mimi Collins to transfer as well.
But the return to health of one player, the addition of a junior college player and a group of four new signees, including two five-stars, does give Harper something to work with. And one of the co-leading scorers is back, while a couple of elite freshmen from a year ago are ready to take a major leap.
Simply put, despite the departures, there is a lot of potential, and there are players on this team poised to deliver on that potential. Who are they? In this post, we’re going to give you the top players on the team.
This isn’t our projected depth chart, but it’s our ranking of player value for Harper. Yes, we’re basing this solely of raw talent, and there are some players who aren’t even starting who will be on here. A combination of value and talent to deliver production makes up this list.
