Offensive line is a major focus for Tennessee football, and the Volunteers got a huge commitment there Tuesday from 2020 prospect Kyree Miller.

As he continues to appear to turn around Tennessee football down the stretch of the 2019 season, Jeremy Pruitt is also upgrading the Vols’ 2020 recruiting class. And he got a big midweek pickup, literally.

Kyree Miller, a 2020 offensive lineman out of West Mesquite High School in Mesquite, Texas, committed to the Vols Tuesday afternoon. A 6’5″ prospect listed as heavy as 379 pounds, he is the 17th commitment for UT overall in 2020 and fifth at offensive line.

Currently, Miller has no rating on Rivals, but he is listed as a three-star prospect on 247Sports and was being recruited by Jim Chaney and Will Friend. He announced his commitment to Tennessee football on Twitter.

Before Tuesday, the only other FBS team in real contention for Miller were the SMU Mustangs. However, he also had offers from the Liberty Flames, North Texas Mean Green and UTEP Miners. Non-FBS teams offering him included the Alcorn State Braves, Houston Baptist Huskies, Lamar Cardinals, Prairie View A&M Panthers and Texas Southern Tigers.

Given his ratings, it’s hard to know just how good he is yet. But what’s clear is that Pruitt loves big offensive linemen, and he got another one in Miller. You can’t teach size. Here is a look at his highlight reel.

As you can see, Miller knows how to stay with a block, and he’s able to pull on stretch running plays. So he’s not just a big guy. He clearly is meant to line up at guard, and Tennessee football is looking for more size their in the future.

Guard is one of those positions where Pruitt can find guys and plug them in regardless of their ratings. Speed and agility obviously aren’t as important, so Miller is a great fit for there. And he gives Pruitt more options in terms of depth at the position, which is a big deal going forward.
