Tennessee football: Vols stock report following Week 11 of 2019
Stock up
Receivers
This unit has consistently come through for Tennessee football, but it has largely been the wideouts and mainly Jauan Jennings before this past weekend. Now, though, we can say the whole unit is looking good. Anybody involved in catching the ball has been valuable for the Vols. Jennings still got his with 49 receiving yards.
However, Marquez Callaway coming away with over 100 yards and a touchdown was the story. Josh Palmer adding 55 yards and another touchdown was another story. Even Dominick Wood-Anderson had a touchdown catch that was called back. But that followed a great game by Wood-Anderson against the UAB Blazers. So the receiver corps. as a whole is balling. And that matters.
Inside linebackers
Nobody’s going to debate this one. It’s more clear than ever just how much the Vols missed Daniel Bituli to start the season. Since his return, Rocky Top is 5-3, and they are on a three-game winning streak. On Saturday, he was the star with 19 tackles, 10 of which were solo, and the key stop on the goal-line to win the game.
But while everybody rightly praises Bituli, people are forgetting about the development of Henry To’o To’o, the other inside linebacker. He’s been a valuable player for the Vols all year, and he also had quite a few key stops Saturday. Add in Quavaris Crouch coming in to get four tackles, and this unit is really starting to take off. Things look great here for the rest of the season.
