Lady Vols top Irish hours after Zaay Green injury news – Maria Cornelius, GoVols247
On Monday, the Tennessee women’s basketball team received sad news with the fact that one of its star guards, Zaay Green, will miss the entire season due to a torn ACL she suffered in practice Saturday. However, later that evening, they responded by shocking the No. 16 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish on the road with a 74-63 win.
"Tennessee, 3-0, dominated the glass, 55-28, and swatted away 12 Irish shots. The Lady Vols fell behind 2-5 early, took the lead 9-5 after two offensive boards in the first quarter by Davis and never trailed. Tennessee won for the first time in South Bend since 2008 and became the first team to beat Notre Dame, 2-1, at home in 115 games besides UConn."
Rick Barnes meets with media ahead of Murray State – UTSports
Men’s Tennessee Vols basketball head coach Rick Barnes held a Monday press conference ahead of his team’s matchup with the Murray State Racers. Here’s a bit of what he said.
"“I don’t know if we have a great feel yet, because we’ve dealt with injuries where we haven’t really been able to get everybody going in the same direction at the same time where we’re healthy enough to know exactly what we do have and what we can count on night-in and night-out. I like this team a lot. I think it’s a group of guys who want to be good. We’ve got some guys who are going to continue to grow up as we go through the season.”"
Daniel Bituli named SEC Defensive Player of the Week – SECSports.com
After 19 tackles in the Tennessee Vols’ win over the Kentucky Wildcats, Daniel Bituli earned conference-wide praise. Bituli was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in that 17-13 victory.
"No stop was bigger than Bituli’s tackle on fourth-and-goal from the 2-yard line when he stuffed Kentucky quarterback Lynn Bowden’s quarterback option run with just over a one-minute remaining to secure the victory. He finished with 10 solo tackles and added a half-tackle for loss as the Vols erased a 13-0 first-quarter deficit and held the Wildcats scoreless in the second half at Kroger Field."
Jauan Jennings added to Biletnikof Award Watch List – biletnikoffaward.com
Senior wide receiver Jauan Jennings, who has been dominant for Tennessee football this year, was one of five players added to the 2019 Biletnikof Award Watch List Monday. The award is given annually to the best receiver in the nation.
"Receivers are periodically added to the watch list as their season performances dictate. Actual, not potential, performance is the basis for inclusion on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List."
Darrell Taylor accepts Senior Bowl invite – seniorbowl.com
The 2019 Reese’s Senior Bowl announced that Tennessee football senior edge rusher Darrell Taylor has accepted an invitation to play in the game at the end of the year. Taylor currently has seven sacks and eight tackles for a loss on the season.
"The top players in college football travel to Mobile, Alabama to play for NFL coaches, with other players in the game of the year."

When they come back from their bye week, Tennessee football will have another night game. It will be their third straight game played after the sun goes down.
"The Southeastern Conference announced kickoff times for Week 13 games. The Tennessee-Missouri contest will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be televised by the SEC Network."
