Back in the top 25, the Tennessee Lady Vols are home again Tuesday as they face the Stetson Hatters. Here is our women’s basketball Volunteers preview.

They have cracked the AP Poll for the first time in the Kellie Harper era thanks to a huge win last week over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Now the Tennessee Lady Vols have to play their first game Tuesday with that ranking beside their name.

UT is set to play the second of a six-game home stand following that win at Notre Dame, their first game being a 73-43 win over the TSU Tigers that got them to 4-0 on the year. This time, they host the Stetson Hatters.

Ranked No. 23 in the AP Poll, Harper’s team could continue to climb the ranks with a fifth win. Despite the season-ending injury to Zaay Green, they have consistently gotten better since surviving their first game on the road at the ETSU Bucs. Here is all the information you need for the Tennessee Lady Vols’ Tuesday night matchup.

Stetson Hatters at No. 23 Tennessee Lady Volunteers

As we mentioned already, Green is out for the season. On top of that, Jaiden McCoy is banged up. But that hasn’t stopped Harper from trying to go 10-deep, as nobody on the team is averaging even close to 30 minutes a game.

This is the eighth meeting between UT and Stetson, with the Lady Vols holding a 7-0 advantage. The Hatters are led by 12th-year head coach Lynn Bria and are 2-2 on the year, having fallen to the No. 13 ranked Kentucky Wildcats 67-48 and the Saint Francis Red Flash 78-73.

Stetson out of DeLand, Fla., has six players back from a team that went 16-16 last year and did make the postseason Women’s NIT. Day’Neshia Banks is the only player back who averaged double-figures last year, though, and she hasn’t missed a beat this year, averaging 13.8 points, eight and a half rebounds, one and a half blocks and nearly three assists a game.

Megan Vincent is another starter who is back, and she has upped her game to averaging just under 11 points, one and a half blocks and four rebounds. Similar to the Tennessee Lady Vols, these guys do go 10-deep, as nobody averages 30 minutes a game, and 10 players have played in all four games while averaging at least 11 minutes a game.

After Stetson, UT will have a week off before hosting the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions next Tuesday, the Air Force Falcons on Sunday, Dec. 1, the Texas Longhorns on Sunday, Dec. 8 and the Colorado State Rams on Wednesday, Dec. 11. So they have a light schedule and a solid bit of rest coming up, but they have to stay focused on this game.
