Another player from outside the U.S. committed to Tennessee basketball Friday. NBA Global Academy guard Santiago Vescovi chose the Volunteers.

He already has a top five recruiting class for 2020. But Rick Barnes is not done. On Friday, Tennessee basketball added another member to that class, this time going outside of the United States of America for even more talent.

Santiago Vescovi of the NBA Global Academy and originally from Uruguay committed to the Vols, according to Evan Daniels of 247Sports. At 6’2″ 180 pounds, he is the fourth commitment in the class, joining five-stars Jaden Springer and Keon Johnson and four-stars Corey Walker Jr.

With his commitment, there’s a chance Tennessee basketball has four players from outside the country on next year’s team, as Yves Pons is out of France, Uros Plavsic is from Serbia and Olivier Nkamhoua is from Finland. That’s almost likely to happen unless Pons declares early for the NBA Draft.

Despite being a three-star on Rivals and 247Sports, Vescovi does have a four-star 247Sports Composite rating. He has made a name for himself with strong performances with NBA Academy Latin America last year and then Basketball Without Borders before transferring to the NBA Global Academy in Australia.

According to 247Sports, Vescovi could be joining Tennessee basketball next semester, as he plans to take the SAT in early December. He could clearly be a great addition to an already great collection of guards Barnes has. Here is a look at his highlight reel posted to YouTube.

As you can see, Vescovi has all the makings of a true point guard. He’s very athletic, has solid handles, can shoot from the outside and is unselfish. Simply put, he’s a playmaker and incredibly skilled at the same time.

With Vescovi, the Vols will have two true point guards next year as Victor Bailey Jr. will also be eligible to go. Josiah-Jordan James could potentially stay as well, but if he doesn’t this team should be loaded in the back court next year. And their post game will return to solid form with Plavsic actually being able to play.

Simply put, Tennessee basketball is in great shape for the future. The addition of Vescovi played a huge role in that. So this is a great commitment and just another example of Barnes truly taking this program international.
