Tennessee football Smokey points: Top five Vols in 24-20 Missouri win
What else can we say about the wide receiver corps. for Tennessee football? The Vols had three players go for over 100 receiving yards, and when that happens, of course Jauan Jennings is going to lead the way for Rocky Top. There’s no way Jennings isn’t going to be a crucial part of a game in which Rocky Top’s passing attack dominates.
Jennings had five catches for 115 yards and a touchdown, just slightly better in terms of numbers than Marquez Callaway. But they both were great, as they both had over 100 receiving yards and a touchdown for the third time this season. All of Jennings’s catches seemed like to be crucial plays in the game as well.
Remember, he had a 20-yard catch on 3rd and 18 to keep one Vols drive alive. Then he caught a touchdown pass on that same drive and eluded three tacklers en route to the score. On the Vols’ first touchdown drive, Jennings had a 51-yard catch that was the key play. Then he had the 3rd and 5 catch to seal the game late for the Vols.
So three of Jennings’s five catches were on touchdown drives, one of which was a touchdown, and a fourth was the catch to seal the game. Two of them were third down grabs as well, and one was the longest play of the game. Simply put, he was dominant all day, and that’s a surprise to nobody.
