Jarrett Guarantano. 839. Scouting Report. Quarterback. Junior. 1. player. Pick Analysis

What else can we say? Jarrett Guarantano joined Tyler Bray and Peyton Manning as the only three Tennessee football quarterbacks to throw for over 400 yards in a game, although Andy Kelly came close against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in 1990 by throwing for 399 yards. Anyway, Guarantano was the star once again.

Who else could have been responsible for three wide receivers going for over 100 yards? Guarantano has been the development story of the year for the Vols after receiving an insane amount of criticism to start the season. He finished this game completing 23 of 40 passes for 415 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Jim Chaney has done a great job exploiting the advantages the Vols have with their size at receiver, but Guarantano has been delivering beautiful passes as well. His 3rd and 18 conversion to Jauan Jennings and two third down conversions to seal the game late were all beautiful throws. He continues to make big plays and clutch plays when necessary.

It’s also worth noting that Guarantano had a 12-yard run as well to set up the Vols’ field goal just before the half. There are very few stories as great as Guarantano’s, and he proved himself again in incredibly impressive fashion on Saturday. There’s no debating who the best quarterback on Rocky Top is now.

Next. Five takeaways from Vols win at Missouri. dark

In the previous games, Guarantano came off the bench to deliver the win. This time, he got the start. But he was pulled for a play with Tennessee football down 10-7. Brian Maurer threw an incomplete pass on that play, and the 3rd and 18 conversion by Guarantano followed. Then came a touchdown, and UT never trailed again.
