Utah Utes over Colorado Buffaloes

Line: Utah -28.5; Over/Under: 49; TV: ABC

Saturday, Nov. 30 at 7:30 p.m. ET; Rice-Eccles Stadium; Salt Lake City, Utah

If the Utah Utes lose to the Colorado Buffaloes, they will finish the regular season with two losses. Since they are No. 6 right now in the College Football Playoff rankings, that runs the risk of them being locked in as an at-large Pac-12 team. And that’s the last thing that Tennessee football can afford to happen.

The Vols and the SEC in general want one Pac-12 team to make it. In order for that to happen, the Utah Utes need to be that team that actually wins the conference. We already mentioned the Oregon Ducks losing to the Oregon State Beavers on this list. Well, this is the next step in the process for Rocky Top.

Utah needs to make sure they win on Saturday as a result. Losing will propel the USC Trojans into the Pac-12 title game. Simply put, there’s no way that the Utes can finish the regular season, including conference championship weekend, with fewer than two losses.

What that means is they need to be the ones to win the Pac-12 while everybody else falls apart. There’s another connection here, as UT almost hired Colorado head coach Mel Tucker to coach them a couple of years ago. But what’s more important at this point for Vol fans is to make sure the Utes manage to win this game and then win the Pac-12.
