With one more game, Tennessee football will be looking to avoid a slip-up and get to 7-5. Here are five Volunteers to watch for against Vandy.

Amidst this incredible turnaround, it would be a shame for Tennessee football if they managed to blow it all by suffering an upset loss at home to the Vanderbilt Commodores to close out the season. That’s something they simply can’t afford.

After an 0-2 start, the Vols are in position to have an incredibly strong finish to the season. Going 8-5 is on the table, and if they finish 7-5 by beating Vanderbilt, they have a great chance at making an decent bowl game.

But Vandy showed by beating the Missouri Tigers that they can indeed be more dangerous than Rocky Top on a good day. And they have beaten Tennessee football for three straight years. Add in the fact that this is their bowl game at 3-8, and the Vols have to be focused.

How can they neutralize the advantages Derek Mason’s team has? Well, that’s going to be the focus in this post. One more time in the regular season, we’re going to take a look at the key players for the Vols to win.

As usual with other teams, we will take into account which players will be key to beat Vandy and which players will be key to offsetting Vandy’s advantages. And believe it or not, the Vols do need a couple of unique advantages to make sure they win this game.

On Senior Day, a few seniors will be key to them winning. But beyond that, they have underclassmen who have emerged dramatically in recent weeks and need to make sure they do their part to avoid an upset.

Who is going to be responsible for making sure this happens? Which players can lead Rocky Top in closing out the 2019 UT regular season strong? Let’s break this all down here. These are the five Vols to watch for when Tennessee football hosts the Vanderbilt Commodores Saturday afternoon.
