Ole Miss Rebels at Mississippi State Bulldogs

Line: Mississippi State -1.5; Over/Under: 58; TV: ESPN

Thursday, Nov. 28 at 7:30 p.m. ET; Davis Wade Stadium; Starkville, Miss.

We start this final week of games with the Egg Bowl. It’s always an exciting Thanksgiving game, and there is serious meaning to it for one team this year even if another team has nothing to play for anymore.

Losing to Tennessee football is proving costly to the Mississippi State Bulldogs. They are now 5-6 and have to win this game to reach bowl eligibility. However, they did just blow out Abilene Christian, and their young talent is finally starting to develop in Joe Moorhead’s second season. So it’s perfect timing for them as they try to make a bowl.

Matt Luke’s Ole Miss Rebels have no hope of making a bowl game. However, they have done all they could this year and were two close non-conference losses away from getting there. Anyway, despite being 4-7, a win over MSU would be the best way for them to close out the season and could somewhat offset the heartbreak of the year.

Prediction

Vegas knows something, as Mississippi State is only favored by one and a half points. But we say that small spread with them at home will motivate them enough to make sure they play lights out. As a result, we’ve got the Bulldogs winning. And with their offense rolling while Ole Miss has a great offense and no defense, take the over. MSU wins and covers in a shootout.

Mississippi State: 35 Ole Miss: 31 (Mississippi State -1.5; Over 58)
