Tennessee football: Photo gallery from Vols 28-10 Vanderbilt win
Despite two weather delays, there were many memorable moments in Tennessee football’s win over the Vandy Commodores. Here are Volunteers photos.
The game was ugly. Weather was even uglier. But Tennessee football still gave Vols fans enough to celebrate with a 28-10 victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores on Senior Day to finish Jeremy Pruitt’s second regular season with a 7-5 record and 5-3 SEC record.
After a 1-4 start with two losses at home to Group of Five schools at home to open the season, UT finished the game on a five-game winning streak and with five wins in six games. They won four straight SEC games after falling behind in all of them.
In this game, they fell behind 3-0 but reeled off three unanswered touchdowns to go into halftime up 21-3. They then allowed Vandy to cut the lead to 21-10 in the second half before responding with another touchdown.
Following that, a second weather delay came. The first was at the beginning of the game, which delayed the Vols’ start time from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Even with those stoppages, there were lots of memorable moments in this game. Let’s take a look back at them here. This is a photo gallery from Tennessee football’s win against Vanderbilt.
On top of all of this, the Vols were able to end a three-game losing streak to the ‘Dores. The last time they finished with a winning record in the conference was also the last time they beat Vandy, so this was a big deal.
Only being 7-5 instead of 9-3 will be what UT fans think about for a long time. After all, they should have beaten the Georgia State Panthers and the BYU Cougars. But they have still finished on a strong note, and they also have a chance to make a really good bowl game.
All of those things make this win worthwhile. A legendary game by a freshman running back on Senior Day and continued mental toughness fueled this win for Tennessee football. So it was worth reliving.
