There were key standout performers in Tennessee football’s 28-10 win over the Vandy Commodores. Here are the top Volunteers players.

A weather delay to start the game, a key turnover on the opening drive and then a weather delay to pause the game in the second half were all roadblocks for Tennessee football. But that didn’t stop the Vols from beating the Vanderbilt Commodores 28-10 on Senior Day.

Lots of people deserve credit for this victory and this turnaround season as a whole. Starting 1-4 with their first two games being losses at home to Group of Five schools made a 7-5 finish incredibly impressive.

Also, given their three-game losing streak to Vandy, every play in this game was crucial for Tennessee football. So with those setbacks, there was plenty of reason to be nervous given the recent history of this series.

UT managed to pull away for a convincing victory, though. Big plays from key players were the story of this game. One player in particular stands out above everybody, but there were a few key individuals who made lots of big plays to secure this victory.

As we get set to dish out our Smokey points for player performances in the game, note that it wasn’t hard to narrow people down in this one. One player had a memorable Senior Day, and then there was a freshman who played like he was a senior.

That was just on offense. On defense, there were plenty of struggles, but a few specific players managed to make a difference, particularly with one unit. We’ll be ready to hand out helmet stickers to some of those guys as well.

Despite the ugly performance for many players, it was still a dominating win over Vandy. And UT has completed a remarkable turnaround. So we should be in the business of giving them credit for that. Let’s begin here. These are the top Vols performers in Tennessee football’s 28-10 victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores.
