Another Tennessee Vols offensive lineman entering the transfer portal leads our Volunteers news for Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019.

We’re halfway through the week toward the first Saturday after the end of the Tennessee Vols regular season. But unlike previous years, it’s not actually the end of their season anymore, and that’s something worth celebrating by itself.

Our morning update on Rocky Top leads with football coverage, though. A second UT offensive lineman entering the transfer portal is our lead story, and he is another veteran who spent a good amount of time with the program.

After that, though, we have a preview of two events in different sports. One is a men’s basketball matchup coming out of the Emerald Coast Classic, which we’ll detail for tonight. The other is a swimming and diving event. So there is still plenty of news to cover this first week of December. Let’s start with the football news.

Marcus Tatum enters transfer portal – Patrick Brown, GoVols247

One day after Ryan Johnson and Jerrod Means put their names in the NCAA transfer portal, Tennessee Vols offensive lineman Marcus Tatum joined them. Tatum has been with the program since 2016 and was a regular contributor in 2018, but the emergence of Darnell Wright and Wanya Morris at tackle limited his playing time.

"Tatum, a 6-foot-6, 316-pound offensive tackle, played in every game this season with three starts, all at right tackle in the games against Georgia State, BYU and UAB. He also started the final five games of the 2018 season at left tackle after Trey Smith was sidelined midway through the season when team doctors discovered blood clots had re-formed in his lungs. Tatum also started three games in 2017, but missed most of the season due to injury and received a medical redshirt."

Florida A&M visits Tennessee basketball – Field Level Media, Yahoo Sports

Coming off their buzzer-beating win in the consolation game of the Emerald Coast Classic, the Tennessee Vols men’s basketball team returns home to face the Florida A&M Rattlers on Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET at Thompson-Boling Arena.

"Tennessee, which dropped four spots in the AP Top 25, will have nine days off before playing host to No. 15 Memphis on Dec. 14. The Vols then will play three more games — at Cincinnati, Jacksonville State and Wisconsin — before beginning SEC play on Jan. 4 against visiting LSU."
