No. 4 Georgia Bulldogs vs. No. 2 LSU Tigers

Southeastern Conference Championship Game

Line: LSU -7; Over/Under: 55; TV: CBS

Saturday, Dec. 7 at 4 p.m. ET; Mercedes-Benz Stadium; Atlanta, Ga.

What do we do with the SEC Championship game? This is the conference championship of conference championships because it involves one team firmly in the playoff and another with the chance to make it. It’s the type of game that does the opposite of the AAC and Big 12 title games, as it’s one with real relevance involving two teams who haven’t played each other yet.

LSU comes into the game motivated. They don’t really have anything to lose, but there’s no point not trying to win when you have an SEC title on the line. It’s not like if they win, they’ll have to face UGA again in the playoff. Doing so will eliminate the Dawgs. And Ed Orgeron wants to prove just how good his team is.

Georgia, on the other hand, has to be sick of knocking on the door. Kirby Smart is in his third year, and back to back No. 1 ranked recruiting classes have to be starting to take shape. Sure, they had one ugly loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks, but outside of that, they actually have a pretty solid resume as well. This would be huge for the program’s morale.

Prediction

Nobody is giving he Dawgs credit for looking ugly in wins. But Jake Fromm has been as efficient as ever. This defense is dominant. And the game is in Atlanta. We’re going with defense over offense here. So yes, Georgia wins in the upset. They win it with defense, so take the under. Even if you take LSU, this line moved from three and a half to seven. That’s to big, so they won’t cover.

Georgia: 24 LSU: 21 (Georgia +7; Under 55)
