Lots of great players wore a Tennessee football uniform in the 2010s. Here is our Volunteers depth chart for 2010 through 2019.

Note: This is part of a series of posts recapping the decade for Tennessee football, Tennessee basketball, Tennessee women’s basketball and other Tennessee Vols-related topics.

There aren’t too many players who would make it on the all-time Tennessee football depth chart from this decade. But the Vols certainly had a good bit of talent come through, and if you took the best players from different teams from the decade to make one team, you would have a dangerous program to be reckoned with.

As we get set to look at the all-decade depth chart, we’re going to have a starter and a backup for every position. Positions include quarterback, running back, two wideouts, slot receiver, tight end, two offensive tackles, two offensive guards and a center on offense.

On defense, we’ll have two defensive tackles, a strongside defensive end, a weakside defensive end, two linebacker spots, two cornerbacks, a nickel, a free safety and a strong safety. We’ll also have a place kicker, a punter, and a kickoff and punt returner.

The number in every one of those positions should be doubled, and that’s how you get a two-deep depth chart. To spread the wealth a bit more, nobody can be in a position twice. So receivers and defensive backs can’t double as return specialists.

In some cases, the positions had easy people to name. However, it also got a bit more difficult at times. A few players played during some of Rocky Top’s worst years, and a couple have had off-field issues that made it harder to put them on here. But we couldn’t deny their production.

This depth chart is solely about production. So let’s go ahead and see how it would all come together. This is our all-2010s Tennessee football. Here’s what the two-deep roster for the whole decade would look like.
