25. College Football Playoff: Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl

No. 1 LSU Tigers over No. 4 Oklahoma Sooners

Saturday, Dec. 28 at 4 p.m. ET; Mercedes-Benz Stadium; Atlanta, Ga.; ESPN

This one’s a two-parter. Tennessee football fans should root for the LSU Tigers to beat the Oklahoma Sooners and win the national title. Now, to be fair, the Vols have no shot of taking a spot away from LSU or Oklahoma. And UT never played LSU this year, so there’s not much it will do for Rocky Top.

However, by nature of being in the SEC, it will have a tiny impact. That tiny impact was enough for us to put the game at No. 25 on this list. After all, there is a bit of SEC pride still in play, and the effect opponents’ opponents can have is still a big deal. UT played five teams who played the Tigers this year, so there’s something to that.

If LSU wins that game, the Vols should then root for Ed Orgeron to beat either the Clemson Tigers or Ohio State Buckeyes in the national championship. Now that one actually has a recruiting impact. UT and Clemson are closer to competing for the same players, as they don’t really compete with LSU for Louisiana players.

In fact, Vol fans should root for the winner of this game, whomever it is, to win the national title for that specific reason. There are much bigger recruiting battles to win with Ohio State and Clemson, so it’s crucial that neither of those teams wins it.

That game will be at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, La. at 8 p.m. ET on Monday, Jan. 13, 2020 and televised on ESPN. LSU doing it just brings more SEC pride. As 13-point favorites against Oklahoma, the Tigers clearly appear to be in good shape to do that.
