The early signing period for Tennessee football recruiting brought a surprise. Jimmy Holiday flipped from the TCU Horned Frogs to the Volunteers for 2020.

It was a morning of athletes for Tennessee football during the early signing period. After picking up Len’Neth Whitehead out of Athens, Ga., the Vols flipped another athlete who hails from the great state of Mississippi.

Jimmy Holiday, out of Flora, Miss., flipped his commitment to UT Wednesday morning. Coming out of Madison Central High School, Holiday had been committed to the TCU Horned Frogs for over four months.

However, Rocky Top had been making a play for him in recent weeks, and the momentum was on their side. Holiday announced his change to Tennessee football Wednesday morning during a ceremony, and then he revealed it on Twitter.

Tee Martin and Will Friend were the two coaches who recruited Holiday. He became the 20th commitment in the class and third athlete. As we mentioned, he was the second athlete to commit that morning.

A three-star on Rivals, Holiday stands at 6’1″ 180 pounds. He is the No. 27 ranked athlete nationally and the No. 15 ranked player in the state of Mississippi. But there is a ton of potential with this guy.

Despite committing as a quarterback, Holiday can play multiple positions on either side of the ball. Also, he has clocked in a 4.38 40-time, according to Ryan Callahan of GoVols247. So he clearly has talent. Here is a look at his highlight reel.

As you can see, Holiday’s skill is his speed, which his 40-time showed. He has incredible lateral quickness and can accelerate at a rapid rate, making him an insanely valuable pickup for Tennessee football’s 2020 class.

Of course, he is doing that against high school competition. It’s not likely he’ll be able to outrun and outmaneuver SEC defenders like that, but speed is always a valuable asset that you just can’t coach. Holiday has it, and that makes him an amazing pickup for Rocky Top during the early signing period.
