No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers win 34-31

We may be looking at the greatest play in Tennessee football history here. As a result, there was no way we could leave it off of this list, and it clearly belonged No. 1. This play was the peak of the decade of the Vols as well, not just some random win in some random moment. That makes it even more impressive.

UT entered this game 4-0. They had just beaten the Florida Gators, erasing a brutal losing streak. In this one, they fought back from a 17-0 deficit to take a 28-24 lead. But with 10 seconds left, the Georgia Bulldogs had a Hail Mary touchdown to go up 31-28. Thanks to an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and a great return by Evan Berry, however, UT had a chance to win.

With four seconds left, Joshua Dobbs dropped back to pass and threw it into the end zone. Jauan Jennings jumped up over everybody and caught it, coming down to secure the 34-31 win. Yes, Jennings was on both top plays on this list, and they happened in back to back weeks. But again, it was the best time to be a UT fan this decade.

That became a Hail Mary touchdown to secure Tennessee football a road win over a ranked team in the SEC East. It then got them to 5-0 and into the top 10. And right after that, a complete tank under Butch Jones followed, as the Vols lost three straight and then went 4-8 the next year. But nothing was better for Rocky Top than this moment in this decade.
