6. 2010 vs. Ole Miss Rebels

Justin Hunter 80-yard touchdown reception

Tennessee Volunteers win 52-14

Early in this decade, Tennessee football appeared to be on the right track under Derek Dooley. After inheriting a mess in his first year and watching the Vols fall to 2-6, he orchestrated a turnaround behind Tyler Bray and Justin Hunter that got them to 6-6 and a bowl game. This was the key play during that turnaround.

Coming off a win over the Memphis Tigers, the Vols got to 3-6. They were facing a 4-5 Ole Miss team in its third year under Houston Nutt looking to make a bowl game as well. Ole Miss was actually the favorite to win the game. But Bray and Hunter set the tone early to make sure they would pull away for a blowout victory.

Less than three minutes into a game, Bray threw a pass that was tipped. But somehow, Hunter came down with the tipped ball. He then turned around and ran it 80 yards to the house for a touchdown to give the Vols a 7-0 lead. A crazy tipped play that results in an 80-yard touchdown reception is always worthy of memory.

When it comes in arguably the highlight win of a bowl season, it clearly is going to be a big deal. UT turned that momentum into a dominant win over Ole Miss, and that allowed them to ride the wave and beat the Vanderbilt Commodores and Kentucky Wildcats to get to 6-6. But the key play in that turnaround came down to Bray and Hunter. Even if it involved some luck, it was exciting.
