There was a wide range of finishes for men’s Tennessee basketball from the 2010-2019 decade. Here is how they all rank for the Volunteers.

When you have four different head coaches and fire two of them due to NCAA infractions in the span of one decade, you’ll have lots of setbacks due to attrition. Such was the case for Tennessee basketball throughout the decade.

However, the Vols had such a good infrastructure as a program that even with those setbacks, they were able to have some of their greatest season in school history. The combination of the two made for an extremely wide range of finishes to seasons throughout the decade.

The ever elusive Final Four for men’s Tennessee basketball was not reached. But lots of other accomplishments for different teams occurred throughout the decade, and they are all worthy of looking back on.

In this post, we’re going to rank Rocky Top’s finishes to each season this decade. Since it deals with finishes, we’re not counting this season, which ends in 2020, but we will count the 2009-2010 season, since it ended in 2010.

One thing worth noting is that we don’t just base these finishes on how far somebody went in the NCAA Tournament. That is a major factor, but championships in other forms, number of wins and final rankings all come into play. A season should never solely be judged by how far a team went in the Big Dance unless that team made the Final Four or won the national title.

Now, we did mention all the drama that came with the end of a couple of seasons. Those will not be factors at all, though, unless there is a tiebreaker needed. That’s because this ranking is just a specific reflection of each season.

So how do years in this decade stack up to those in previous decades? What were some of the best runs on Rocky Top? Let’s go ahead and take a look. This is our ranking of Tennessee basketball’s finish to all 10 seasons in the 2010s decade.
