As Tennessee football looks to get to 8-5 in Jacksonville Thursday, here are five Volunteers who will be key to that happening against the Indiana Hoosiers.

Well, the final game of what was an up and down 2019 season is here. Tennessee football is making its first bowl appearance since 2016, facing an opponent that has gone just as long without playing a postseason game as well.

When the Vols and Indiana Hoosiers meet in the Gator Bowl Thursday night, both teams will be looking to end the season on a strong note. Indiana wants to prove it can beat a team with a winning record, and UT wants to continue its red-hot winning streak that ended Jeremy Pruitt’s second season on Rocky Top.

If Tennessee football is going to put the exclamation point it needs to put on the season, though, the Vols will need certain key players to step up. Some have a major incentive to do so, as it’s going to be their last game ever in orange.

As we get set to break down the key players in this game, it’s worth noting that we will put a bit of emphasis on players looking to make one final splash with the Vols. However, we will also have to take matchups and personnel breakdowns into account as well.

After all, this team does have a game to play, and they need to do what it takes to win. But you’ll notice that in Jacksonville, there’s going to be a bit of a correlation between players in their last game and players who will be key to winning.

Anyway, all of these players owe it to themselves and the university to make sure the Vols go out with a bang. They have worked too hard and had too memorable of a turnaround to allow for anything else to be the case.

So who will Pruitt and his staff rely on to make sure that happens? Which players can do the most to give Rocky Top a strong finish. Let’s look at them now. These are the five Vols to watch for in Tennessee football’s Gator Bowl matchup with the Indiana Hoosiers.
