Tennessee football: How former Vols fared in NFL wild-card round
As we said, some people were low on this list despite winning, ie. Zach Fulton, and others were high on this list despite losing. Shy Tuttle is the guy who was high on this list, as he did his part to deliver a victory for the New Orleans Saints, even if other people didn’t come through. Tuttle was the best former Vol to perform this past weekend.
For the game against Minnesota, Tuttle lined up at defensive tackle and came away with two tackles, one tackle for a loss and two pass deflections. On top of that, his push up front in the middle was the catalyst for three New Orleans sacks and nine and a half tackles for a loss by the defense overall.
Tuttle joins Alvin Kamara as two overlooked Tennessee football players coming out of college. But he joins guys like Justin Coleman, Arian Foster, Ramon Foster and Britton Colquitt as players who went undrafted but turned into very reliable guys this decade. That list is actually longer, but we only named a few specific ones for now.
The point is that Tuttle, as a rookie, is a rising star in the Big Easy. He had a great playoff game, and although he is going home, he was an undrafted steal for the Saints all year. His future is incredibly bright. Sunday’s performance, even in a loss, proved he’s just getting started.
