After a heartbreaking loss at the Kentucky Wildcats, the Tennessee Lady Vols visit the Ole Miss Rebels. Here is our women’s basketball Volunteers preview.

They are still ranked in the top 25 after only losing by four on the road to the Kentucky Wildcats, another top 25 team, this past Sunday. Now, the Tennessee Lady Vols are on the road again for another SEC matchup Thursday night.

With an 11-3 record overall and 1-1 SEC record, Kellie Harper’s team heads to Oxford to take on the Ole Miss Rebels. Ranked No. 23 in the AP Poll and No. 24 in the Coaches Poll, UT has been hitting pars for much of Harper’s first year, and winning this game would be another par for them.

Rocky Top is looking for its fourth road win of the year, having already beaten the ETSU Bucs, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Portland State Vikings away from home, but their first road SEC win. Here is all the information you need for the Tennessee Lady Vols’ matchup.

So far, the Tennessee Lady Vols’ best win is at Notre Dame, but playing Kentucky close was a good look. Still, they have lost to Kentucky, at home against the Texas Longhorns and at the Stanford Cardinal. That’s not a bad resume, but it does mean they have to make sure they run the table against lesser teams.

Ole Miss right now appears to be one of those lesser teams. With a 7-8 record and 0-2 SEC record under second-year head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin, the Rebels are rebuilding after losing four starters from last year’s 9-22 team. They do appear to be better this year, as McPhee-McCuin has her players in, but they are so young that there will be some growing pains.

As a result, UT needs to be able to win this game in Oxford. Ole Miss didn’t back down from a tough non-conference schedule, though, so they will be ready to play. And their hunger for a first SEC win could be a major factor as well.
