It’s time to recognize the individuals who made Tennessee football’s turnaround season memorable. Here are our awards for the Volunteers.

The 2019 college football season is in the books. Although Tennessee football didn’t play for any national title, the Vols had a memorable season in terms of the foundation they have been looking to lay for the future.

Jeremy Pruitt’s second year on Rocky Top involved a memorable turnaround that took a team from 0-2 and 1-4 to 8-5 and a six-game winning streak to end the season. Involved in that turnaround were lots of great storylines following different players.

These narratives surrounded key individuals who fueled Tennessee football’s turnaround, and they all now deserve their moment of praise. After all, with the season at an end, it’s time to look back on who came through in the biggest ways.

In this post, we’re going to do just that with our awards. These players have officially earned the individual recognition that helped give UT its best season since 2016 and fuel what is currently the second-longest winning streak in the nation among Power Five teams behind the LSU Tigers, who just won the national championship.

Our list of awards will include Comeback Player of the Year, Most Improved Player, Newcomer of the Year and Most Valuable Player. To give you an idea of why we selected each player, we’ll also have a runner-up in each category.

It’s worth noting that we won’t take into account at all any postseason awards from the conference or nation these players received. This is solely our analysis of which players deserved different awards.

All of these guys, even the runner-ups, deserved shoutouts. There was definitely enough positivity to look back on this season with the way it ended, and these individuals made that a possibility. So who earns our postseason recognition for 2019? Let’s take a look with our Tennessee football awards for the season.
