After a historic defensive effort in a win at the Vanderbilt Commodores, Tennessee basketball hosts the Rebels. Here is our Volunteers preview.

On Saturday, Tennessee basketball scored a crucial road victory by holding the Vanderbilt Commodores to an amazing 0-for-25 from the three-point line. Now, they’re back home from their two-game road stand looking to build on that success.

Rocky Top will host the Ole Miss Rebels, a team coming in on a five-game losing streak, in a late Tuesday night matchup. Led by second-year head coach Kermit Davis, they will be looking for their first SEC win of the season.

Meanwhile, Rick Barnes’ team will attempt to remain above .500 in the SEC in this game after getting back there on Saturday. They currently stand at 11-6 overall and 3-2 in the SEC. Here is all the information you need for Tennessee basketball’s matchup.

Ole Miss Rebels at Tennessee Volunteers

When: Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 9 p.m. ET

Where: Thompson-Boling Arena; Knoxville, Tenn.

TV: SEC Network

Live stream: WatchESPN

Radio: Vol Network; Ole Miss Radio Network

While UT is looking to stay above .500 in the SEC, Ole Miss is looking to stay above .500 in general, as they come in with a 9-8 record overall. That includes their 0-4 record in the SEC, and we already mentioned their losing streak.

Coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance his first year, Davis is looking to build on that, but it’s been a rough go recently. However, their last outing was a close loss to the LSU Tigers, who currently remain undefeated in the SEC. So they are clearly getting better, and that makes them dangerous heading into Knoxville.

Opposite Ole Miss, Tennessee basketball is playing its third game with Uros Plavsic, its sixth game with Santiago Vescovi and its seventh game without Lamonte Turner. The Vols are 1-1, 3-2 and 3-3 in those situations respectively.

Barnes has had to completely reshape his team with the way it is set up, and he is clearly still working on trying to establish an identity. This is a tough task, but its still in January, so there is plenty of time to right the ship. A win last weekend certainly helped, and another one at home Tuesday night would go even further.
