Tennessee football: Vols top five 2020 National Signing Day targets
2. Dee Beckwith
Athlete; 6’5″ 215 pounds
Florence, Ala.; Florence High School
This ranking is due to a combination of versatility and Tennessee football’s high chances. The Vols have been targeting Dee Beckwith for a while, and there’s plenty of reason to believe they’ll get him to commit on National Signing Day. If he does, he would be somewhat of an underrated steal for UT, but he would lift their rankings overall.
Despite being just a three-star on Rivals, Beckwith’s primary position would appear to be wide receiver, and at 6’5″ 215 pounds, very few people would fit the mold of the impossible-to-guard wideouts Jeremy Pruitt and Jim Chaney love better than Beckwith. The guy is just too perfect of a size and should probably be much more highly-rated.
Having played wide receiver and quarterback in high school, Beckwith is the No. 20 ranked athlete nationally at his position, and he’s the No. 16 ranked player in the state of Alabama. Recently, though, he has been on a dramatic rise, which is good news for him and for UT given the strong position they are in to land this guy.
Right now, the Vols are an overwhelming favorite across all services to secure Beckwith. One of the things that helps them more is that the Florida Gators, a team competing with them, just lost Larry Scott, who was recruiting Beckwith. Scott, once with Rocky Top, will become the Howard Bison head coach. That means Pruitt is in prime position to land this guy.
