1. Zachary Evans

Running Back; 6’0″ 195 pounds

Houston, Texas; North Shore High School

This guy was supposed to be going to the Georgia Bulldogs all along. He even signed and then the two parties agreed to mutually let him out of his letter of intent. Since then, it has been wide open as to where he would land.

However, Tennessee football has made a strong play recently, and now they have a chance to get the steal of all steals on National Signing Day. We can’t say for sure how it will work out, but momentum is on the side of the Vols, and they should keep pursuing it.

A five-star on Rivals, Zachary Evans fits the exact profile we talked about in the beginning of this post when it comes to running backs UT needs. He is the No. 13 ranked player nationally, the No. 1 ranked running back and the No. 1 ranked player in the state of Texas. So this guy is a rising star, and he would be UT’s second five-star in the class with Harrison Bailey’s upgrade.

One of the biggest factors that shifted in the Vols’ favor in targeting Evans is the fact that Jeremy Pruitt lured Texas A&M Aggies running backs coach and former Vol Jay Graham back to his alma mater to replace David Johnson as running backs coach. Graham is a star recruiter, and he has been the one heavily pursuing Evans.

On top of that, Evans just recently visited Rocky Top. Taking all of these things into account, Tennessee football should clearly be in great shape to land the star player of the day on Wednesday. They should go all in for the guy, and that would be just the momentum Pruitt needs this offseason.
