Tennessee football: Five bold predictions for Vols 2020 National Signing Day
2. Every commitment will be signed.
Because Zachary Evans won’t commit to Tennessee, the Vols will have every commitment signed by the end of National Signing Day. It seems pretty obvious, as this is the day everybody signs. However, there have been quirks in the past where people ask out of their LOI or keep things open past the deadline, keeping teams in the race to land them.
It will happen with Evans. But everybody else committed to Rocky Top will be signed. The Vols already have all their current commitments signed from December, so they can’t lose out on any flips. Meanwhile, any new commitment will sign that day, and we’re talking about both Dee Beckwith and Malachi Wideman. It’s pretty clear that if they commit, they sign.
Both of the Vols’ commitments who didn’t sign on National Signing Day, three-star athlete Darion Williamson and three-star offensive lineman Kyree Miller, ended up decommitting from the Vols. Williamson has now given the Florida State Seminoles a soft commitment, so the Vols are definitely not getting him back. They likely aren’t going to get Miller back either.
We should also note that it appears the Jay Hardy situation with the Auburn Tigers has fallen through amidst all the confusion. However, it was still a big deal for UT that almost everybody else signed during the Early Signing Period, as crazy things do happen, and because of that, they should benefit with not much to worry about once players commit to them on Wednesday.
