With a few options left, Jeremy Pruitt still has to shore up some needs for Tennessee football. Here are five key areas for the Volunteers to build up.

Most of the 2020 Tennessee football recruiting class has been filled. With 21 commitments, all of whom have signed, and three new transfers all confirmed, we have a pretty good idea of where the Vols stand heading into National Signing Day.

However, there are still multiple players Rocky Top is targeting, and we have a read on a few key targets. That will tell us some things about the Vols, but it may not tell us everything, and they could provide us with a few surprises.

If they do, they will want to make sure they use those surprises to fill a few key needs that they have. Some of the guys we know of whose commitments wouldn’t be a surprise certainly fill some needs for Tennessee football.

Taking all that into account, in this post, we’re going to break down the biggest needs the Vols have heading into National Signing Day for 2020. This is a look at the positions that need more depth built up if the program is going to continue to develop and get better in SEC play under head coach Jeremy Pruitt.

This is just an analysis of where UT doesn’t have enough talent coming in yet to offset where its roster is currently thin. We will also look at areas where the Vols have emerging seniors and lost key talent from this past year but still haven’t done enough to offset those things.

Of course, one Signing Day with just a few recruits left to pick up is not going to fix all of these needs. But it’s a start, and it could certainly help in a dramatic way. That’s the reason we’re doing this list. It’s to look at what Pruitt will want to shore up in the future.

It’s worth noting that what happens on Wednesday will change up this list for the future. So let’s go ahead and break down these issues. With National Signing Day 2020 arriving, these are the five needs Tennessee football most needs to fill.
